If you are finding it hard to get to where you want to be in life then your goal setting may be to blame. There is a high chance that you are either setting goals that are too high, or goals that are too low, and this can cause you real problems for the future.

Set Goals that Motivate You

When you are setting goals, it’s really important that you set ones that motivate you. This means making sure that the goals you have are important to you and that you actually get value from achieving them. If you don’t have much interest in the outcome of your goals or if the goals that you have don’t really contribute to the bigger picture then this can have an impact on your overall happiness and your motivation as well. When you are setting your goals, you need to set ones that have a high priority in your life, because if you don’t then you will never feel any sort of achievement when you accomplish them.

Measure your Goals

You may have seen the Vote Reagan campaign around and this is a prime example of how goals need to be measured. If you are trying to achieve something then you need to know what is working, what isn’t and what you need to do in order to get to where you need to be. If you don’t measure your success then you may be achieving goals without even realising it, and this is the last thing that you need. When setting your goals, make sure that it is possible and that you are also able to measure the outcome of that goal as well. The main problem that a lot of people experience is that they set goals that are far too easy. If you have set a goal that wasn’t hard to achieve then this can be really anticlimactic and it can also make it much harder for you to really get out there and push yourself. For this reason, you need to take the time to set your goals properly so that you can get the best result out of them.

Set Relevant Goals

Goals should always point you in the right direction. They should be where you want your life and career to be and when you are able to keep your goals aligned with this, you would be surprised at what a difference it can make to your life. If you set goals that are widely inconsistent with what you want to achieve then this can cause you real issues and it may even mean that your goals don’t actually contribute to your progress as well. If you want to avoid all of this then it may be worth you sitting down with your friends and even your family as well, so you can talk about what you want to achieve and to also find out if they are able to help you to get there as well. After all, nothing can compare to having a good support network.

I love setting goals, especially when they are achievable. I currently have a few goals of my own that I am working on.

Goal #1 is to get in shape. I picked up a couple workout videos to do at home and am currently working on some at home workout plans that I can do before my kids wake up in the morning or as soon as I get home from work.

Goal #2 is to dedicate at least 30-45 minutes a day writing my book. Blogging does not count! I would love to have my first draft of book one done by this time next year so my mentee's can read it.

Goal #3 is to save $1,500 dollars by the end of September. No more fast food. No more coffee's from Starbucks. And saving all my change and cashing out cans.

What are some of your goals? I would love to hear them. Leave a comment below. Thanks for stopping bye the blog today. I hope this article above is helpful to you. Have a wonderful day.
