New Year’s Skincare Resolutions That Everyone Should Follow

This post is contributed.

What better time to make positive changes to your life than New Year’s. We’ve all heard of making resolutions, but few of us manage to stick with them, especially if they don’t seem to work or show any useful results. However, when it comes to your skin, it’s worth at least trying out a few of these New Year’s skincare resolutions because you’ll be surprised at how much more radiant your skin could appear.

It’s not summer yet but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t wear the sunscreen

Far too many people think that sunscreen is only for summer, but if you think about it, it’s not like the sun doesn’t show during the winter. The sun is out no matter what time of year it is, so if you’re going to go outside you should always apply sunscreen to protect your skin from ultraviolet radiation. Regular sunscreen use will slow down premature ageing and also isn’t as expensive as you think.

Drink more water even if you think you’re drinking enough

Everyone’s heard that we should drink more water for clearer skin, but random amounts are thrown around such as eight glasses, two litres and so on. However, everyone’s body is different and the ideal amount of water to drink depends on your body. A good way to measure how much water you’re drinking is to look at the color of your urine. If it’s a dark yellow then you’re drinking too little, but if it’s completely clear then you’re drinking too much. You should ideally drink enough so that your urine isn’t completely clear but has at least a hint of yellow to it.

Pamper yourself now and then and go for some kind of treatment

There are plenty of aesthetic treatment options such as going to a spa, speaking to medical professionals or seeking out interesting alternate treatments that are said to help you improve your skin. Every now and then, it’s a good idea to go out (remember your sunscreen!) and experience some kind of skin-pampering session. If it helps to clear your skin and keep you looking younger, then it’s well worth the trip and the cost.

Don’t be afraid to visit your dermatologist

Dermatologists are an underrated source of information that can help you solve complicated skin conditions that you don't understand or that keep coming back. Dermatologists know more than you think about your skin (it’s their job, after all) so they can give you some useful advice on how to keep your skin clear and how to deal with certain skin conditions. Almost anyone can benefit from a visit to their dermatologist, so make sure you book regular appointments and have them examine any skin conditions that you think you might have, or even just let them perform a check so they can give you some helpful advice and products to help your skin.

Self-care is very important, and taking care of your skin is just one of the many ways that you can learn to appreciate yourself just a little more.

Enjoy the new year my friends. Until next time.

How Clean Are Your Clothes? Here’s What To Consider

This post is contributed.

You may be wondering what this article is really about. After all, we all put our clothes in the washing machine, they come out, they dry and we wear them. The process is simple, and one that had been repeated for years and years. But, these days we can really ensure that we are getting our clothes clean, and there are simple things to do and check to ensure that happens. Here is some advice to consider.

Making sure hard water is not causing damage

When we put our clothes in the washing machine, we expect to get clean clothes in return. It should be a given. But actually the water that we use could be causing more harm than good, not just to our clothes, but also to our machines in general. Causing a big build up of bacteria and dirt in the pipes, which then in turn cause machines to break down and clothes to be stained. So focus on the water and consider trying something like a Kinetico water softener to help break down the chemicals in the water supply and make it work better for you.

The right detergent and softener

It should be simple to pick up a detergent and softener from your supermarket, but with so much choice these days, you can end up picking up the wrong one. There isn’t necessarily a wrong or right decision, it is more about finding what works for you and your family. For example, if you have sensitive skin, then you may want to think about using a non-biodegradable detergent that can be kinder on your skin and cause less irritations. Then there is the scents. Some you may love, some you might dislike. Finding the right ones is hard, but once you do, make sure you stick with it.

Keeping machines serviced regularly

We can often forget that the machines that lean for us, need attention and cleaning themselves. Not just that, but also having them regularly serviced means that you can keep these machines running for longer, and even avoid expensive repairs in the future. Many energy providers will give you extra cover that will be in place to sort servicing and repairs on your appliances. It could be worth the extra investment. If you don’t want to pay the extra, just having one-off services every now and again could help you to gain some peace of mind.

Adding a disinfectant to kill off germs

Finally, although our clothes are being cleaned and washed, are you really getting rid of 100% of germs and bacteria? The answer is no. This is when adding an extra disinfectant to your laundry machine can make all of the difference. It works alongside your cleaning products, so that you can be assured that when you get your clothes out of the machine, they really are as a clean as they can be.

Let’s hope some of these suggestions have you making a few changes to the way you do your laundry.

Finding Work As A Nanny

This post is contributed.

It can be difficult to find any job in the current day and age. Ever since the recession occurred, it has been tougher for people to find employment. This is quite simply because jobs have become scarce yet the supply of workers is probably bigger than it ever has been before. Therefore, when applying for a job nowadays you face competition from about 100 people rather than a mere ten you would have been pitted against several years ago.

Nonetheless, despite careers looking bleak in a lot of areas, there is one profession which seems to be gaining more momentum. This is childcare. More and more nanny jobs are becoming available all over the world. The reason for this is quite simple – life is extremely fast paced at the moment. Most parents work an unbelievable amount of hours in order to provide for their children. It is impossible for them to work full time and provide their children with the amount of care and attention required. Nannies can also help when families are going through a difficult time. If a family has recently hired a child support lawyer or is in the middle of messy divorce proceedings, a nanny can act as a constant in the child’s life.

If you would like to find work as a nanny, the ultimate solution for finding nanny jobs lies within joining an agency. A lot of people underestimate the importance of this. However, if you join a top agency then not only will you gain from more job opportunities, but you will have professionals matching you to a family best suited to you, and furthermore you know there are people there who have your back and can help you should you experience any trouble.

The reason why joining an agency is the best solution over going independent is because people feel much more at ease when they are hiring their nanny from an agency. This is because the economic climate has led to a loss of confidence across all sectors. People worry that they are going to get scammed or their money is going to end up wasted. Therefore, when it comes to childcare the most obvious and secure solution is to go through an agency. You will definitely have a lot more possibilities come your way through being with a nanny agency.

And last but not least, if you truly want to be attractive career-wise in the modern day, then why not consider the prospect of becoming a live-in nanny? The demand for live-in nannies are extremely high at the current moment in time. Parents see it as much more convenient and it puts their mind at ease. Furthermore, the number of single parents seems to be ever rising, and a live-in nanny is a much better option for those who have to tackle parenting alone.

How to Customize Your Party Looks this Season

This post is contributed.

If you would like to stand out from the crowd when attending a winter party, you don’t necessarily need to invest in a designer dress. If you are creative enough, you will be able to create a head-turning look that will impress even the most critical person. Below you will find a few tips on creating a custom look for any occasion.

Hair Color

You don’t need to dye your hair permanently and turn heads at work. Instead, you can use semi-permanent hair dye that is perfect for the winter months, as you will be able to add color to your outfit and spruce up your looks. Alternatively, colorful hair extensions can also help you out when you would like to emphasize your features or the color of your dress. Don’t go for the dull; be as shiny and loud as possible.

Custom Shoes

Image via Wikipedia

You don’t have to stick with the regular stiletto, either, unless you want to. In the winter it is allowed to wear boots and even studded ankle boots that will help you create a unique style. Check out some of the latest models, such as the A.A. Callister western wedding boot corral and combine it with a trouser suit, a short dress, or even a shiny outfit.

Funky Jewellery

Accessories provide everyone with a cheap way of making their looks stand out. You might think that the smaller the item is the more elegant and discreet it is. However, this season, you might want to go big. An oversized watch with studs and diamonds will get you noticed on any party. You might also opt for a large and long necklace and earrings that perfectly match the color of your outfit.

Patterned Tights

 Image via Flickr

If you don’t want to freeze, but simply don’t fancy wearing your black knitted tights, you can create a look that is modern, daring, and unique by getting some patterned tights. From colorful ones to leggings and tights with a checkered pattern and stripes, maybe one depicting a winter scene combined with your regular black dress will make a statement.

The Power of the Bolero

If you are not into bright and bold colors, you might want to know that you don’t have to wear neon to stand out. In fact, you can spruce up your looks and enhance the style of any dress by adding a bolero. You can change your look during the party by simply taking it off, but if you are cold or would like to look more sophisticated, the bolero will change your looks completely.

In the winter party season, many of us find it hard to get the outfit that fits in the style but represents our personality and taste. Try the above tricks and you can spruce up that little black dress you have been wearing for parties for many years. Accessorize, add color, and use oversized statement jewelry to be in the center of attention at any party.

Maintaining a Friendship with Your Spouse

This post is contributed.

In a long-term relationship, things change. In the beginning, we date. Things are exciting and passionate. Our relationship is based on mutual attraction and excitement. As time goes on, we become friends. Many couples would say that even though they have other close friends, their spouse is their best friend. This friendship is important.

Over the years, it won’t be the passion that gets you through the tough times. It won’t be the romance that helps you when your kids are causing trouble, or you are battling sleepless nights. It’s the friendship. It’s often that friendship that keeps a relationship healthy and helps couples avoid the divorce lawyers. But, maintaining that friendship over the years is tough. Here are some tips to help you.

Spend Time Together Alone

Do you spend quality time alone together? Or, do you put your kids to bed after a hard day at work and a long and relentless dinner time battle to settle on the sofa and look at social media? If it’s the second option, you are not alone. But, spending time alone together, where you give each other your full attention is a great way to always be more than just a married couple going about your life.

Go on dates when you can. Go to the cinema or out for dinner. When you can’t, cook together at home, and leave your phones in another room occasionally.

Try New Things Together

One of the reasons that friendships in marriage stall is that we stop having things in common. The things that we loved and shared when we met aren’t always the things that we are interested in 20 years on.

The best way to avoid this is to keep trying new things together so that you’ve always got something in common and things to talk about. Try new foods, go to new places, watch a new film and have a go at new hobbies.

Spend Time In a Group

Your friends won’t necessarily be your husband's friends, and his might not all be yours. But, to maintain and build a friendship, it’s great if you can put that to one side and spend time in groups of friends, together. It gives you more variation and more in common.

Respect Each Other

Respect is a huge part of any friendship. Over time it’s easy to take your partner for granted, and the respect that you show them can start to dwindle. Show them respect by listening to them, asking their opinion, being polite, saying thank you and complimenting them. Make them feel valued and appreciated, and they’ll do the same for you.

Focus on Tiny Gestures

Romance is often about massive romantic gestures and surprises. These are great, but you rarely do them for friends. Friendship is about the little gestures. Letting him have a lie in when he’s tired, cooking his favourite meal, picking something up from the shop because you know he likes it. Even folding his clothes when you put them away or remembering to make his coffee the way he likes it, not the way that you do.

DIY Ombre Painted Bulbs

A couple weeks ago, Amy over at The Ever Co., shared a photo on her beautiful Instagram feed of the painted ornaments she made with her girls. They were super cute and sounded like they were pretty easy to make, so I thought I would give them a try.

I headed to the dollar store to pick up some plastic ornaments but unfortunately, they were all sold out! So I ended up having to buy glass bulbs instead for this craft. Normally glass ornaments are a huge no-no in our house cause we’re currently dealing with kids who find it funny to throw ornaments across the room. I will admit that I was a little hesitant to let the kids handle them, but they did a good a job and all bulbs remained unbroken.

What You Need:

- Glass or Plastic Bulbs
- Ornament Hooks
- Paint
- Ribbon (optional)

Gold ornament was white + antique gold metallic paint | Red ornament was flag red + white paint

If you don't want the ombre effect, just shake, shake, and shake until the inside of the bulb is completely covered. I recommend using only one color for this option.

To get the ombre effect, pour a little bit of paint into the bulb and slowly rotate the bulb to move the paint around. Take your time and let the paint work its magic. Once the first color stops moving, add your second color and continue the same process. The colors will slowly start to swirl together, creating a beautiful ombre hue inside the bulb. Make sure the paint covers the whole bulb.

Each bulb took me a few minutes to make. For the kids, this craft lasted about 15-20 minutes and they each decorated 3 bulbs.  I added a ribbon adornment and an ornament hook to finish the look.  Since the kid's bulbs are gifts, I won't be sharing them until after Christmas.  There was something satisfying about watching the paints swirl together for these easy DIY Ombre Painted Bulbs. This craft was pretty therapeutic for the kids and me and highly recommend that you make some. Not only are the pretty, but they will last for many Christmas' to come.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today. Leave a comment below with the ombre color you're excited to make because I enjoy reading them!  Have a splendid day my friends.

Until next time.

What Are Your Beauty New Year Resolutions?

This post is contributed.

It is fast approaching the end of the year and with that comes the idea of making some changes for the new year ahead. Many people make resolutions or have some goals they want to achieve. But the idea of what to do can often leave you feeling puzzled. Sometimes the goals may be financially oriented. Sometimes the resolutions can be motivated by family or friends. But the truth is many are related to beauty elements, so here are some of the suggestions to consider.

Make some permanent changes

Let’s start with one of the bigger decisions you may be considering for yourself over the next year, and one that could help create some permanent changes to some of the areas that knock your confidence. Cosmetic surgery is something that more and more women are considering doing. There could be many changes you might want to make, but ultimately, only you can make the decision on this. With careful research and consideration, this could be just the beauty resolution for you.

Try out a new makeup look

One of the things you could try straight away could be some new makeup techniques. Makeup can be, for many women, armor or a war paint so to speak, that gets applied every day to help you feel more confident. But that doesn’t mean to say you always have to stay with the same look. Try a new eyeshadow palette. Watch YouTube videos teaching you how to contour or apply foundation for a flawless look. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone with it.

Change your hairstyle and color

Maybe you want to change your hairstyle and the way you look in that way, and that could be a big step for you. Your long hair may be cut short. You may add extensions to lengthen the look. Or perhaps you like the idea of a completely different color. There are so many inspiring ideas on Instagram or Pinterest, and showing your hairdresser exactly what you would like is a great way to take some control over the situation.

Lose some weight

A lot of people make New Year resolutions that involve losing weight, and so this could be the thing that you are wanting to do yourself. The shape of your body can give you a confidence boost if you feel your best. However, try and avoid any crash diets and focus more on finding the right balance. It will help you keep a sustainable weight and also lose any weight more sensibly.

Consider a new style and step out of your comfort zone

Finally, beauty isn’t always about how your face or hair looks; it can be more to do with what you wear and how you feel in the clothes that you have on. Why not see the New Year as a chance to step out of your comfort zone when it comes to style? Don’t be afraid to wear the things that you like, the colors that brighten your mood, and the styles that suit your body shape. How you feel can be the ultimate confidence booster.

Let’s hope this has given you some ideas on the beauty resolutions you might want to make next year.

Romantic Gift Ideas For Your Partner This Christmas

This post is contributed.

Can you believe that Christmas is in just 15 days? If any of you are like me, I am so behind on my Christmas shopping! There are still a few last minute gifts that I need to pick up for the kids and I haven't even started thinking about gift ideas for my husband. The thought is starting to stress me out. Here are a few stress-free and romantic gift ideas for your partner this Christmas.

Struggling to think of a romantic gift for your partner this Christmas? Here are a few ideas that could be worth looking into.

Plan a date for both of you

Experiences are great gifts that offer lasting memories. To give your partner something to look forward to in January, you could consider planning a fancy date together and then giving them some form of receipt or ticket. This could be a trip to the theatre together, a booking at an expensive restaurant, a hot air balloon ride for two or a booking at a spa hotel. You could even book it for Valentine’s Day in February (it could be a Christmas and Valentine’s day gift in one). There are lots of experience packages online that can allow you to save money on these types of gifts.

Personalise a gift

Personalising a gift shows that you’ve put thought into it and not just picked it off the shelf last minute. There are all kinds of ways to personalise a gift. You could consider getting something tailor-made to fit their measurements such as a bespoke jacket. Alternatively, you could look into personal engraving services – you may be able order a tankard or a phone case with their name engraved into it. Another option could be custom embroidering services – you could get a message or a name embroidered onto an item of clothing or a wallet. Such gifts are unique to the recipient and are certain to be cherished.

Buy flowers

Flowers are always a romantic gift, no matter what time of the year it is. A box of roses could make a great gift for Christmas day. If you’re worried you’re not going to be able to sneak in these flowers, you can always order a flower delivery. It’s possible to order these deliveries to come with a bottle of bubbly or some chocolates, helping to add to the surprise.

Share memories

Another great idea for a gift could be to share happy memories that the two of you have had in the past. Photographs are the best way to do this – you could consider handpicking a selection of photos and creating an album or you could put your art skills to the test and create a collage. Alternatively, you could a single photo of the two of you blown up onto acrylic or canvas. You may also be able to share memories through other gifts such as souvenirs from past places you’ve traveled together or esoteric references to private jokes.

Buy a gift for the bedroom

You could also consider looking into a gift or two for the bedroom. Whether it’s a toy or a costume, it could be a great way to ignite some passion at Christmas – just make sure it’s only you two there Christmas morning when you open these gifts, otherwise it could be embarrassing!

Thanks for visiting the blog today. I hope the idea's above give you some idea's for romantic gifts for you and your partner this holiday season. Have a great day. Until next time my friends.

How To Navigate The Winter Season Like a Pro

This post is contributed.

There’s much to love about the winter season, but we would probably all agree that it can get a little old after a while. It’s cold, there doesn’t seem to be anything to do, it’s dark, and...did we mention that it’s cold? Yupp, excluding Christmas, it’s not the greatest time of the year, but if you’re just trying to make it through to spring, then maybe it’s time to change the way you think about it. Winter doesn’t have to suck, if you know to navigate it properly. Below, we take a look at a few tips that’ll have you loving the chilly months (OK, that might be a slight exaggeration, but, at the very least, you won’t dislike it quite as much as usual!).

Source: Pexels.com

Change Your Mindset

Winter does its best to bring you down. If you find that you lack in energy and all-around have a low mood when it’s dark and cold, then it’s important to remember something: this is completely normal! Humans respond to sunlight, and when that’s not present, we can find ourselves a little less chirpy than usual. If you’re aware that this is what’s happening, you’ll have a small buffer between you and your moods. Don’t overthink why you might be low in energy: just accept it as a natural part of the annual cycle. It’s much better than trying to fight against it.

Cozy Up Your Home

During the spring and summer, we look outdoors. We think bigger, we’re with our friends, we’re enjoying the sunshine, and so on. That’s the external version of ourselves. During the winter, it’s time to look inward. You have to become OK with spending your evenings curled up on the couch. You’re in hibernation mode, building your energy up for when spring comes. You’ll find thinking in these terms much easier if you have a warm and cozy home to enjoy, so take a look at boosting the comfort levels of your house, and specifically your living room. There’s much quiet joy to be had from spending a few hours with a book as you unwind on the couch.

Scents and Candles

You can make your home even more enjoyable by adding things that feed the senses, including candles and scent diffusers. Look at getting things that have cinnamon, pine, incense, amber, and other fragrances that we associate with the winter season. Candles are especially recommended; the soft flicker of the flame just invites you to sink into the joys of the season.

In the Kitchen

There is one thing better than enjoying a warming, hearty meal, and that is: enjoying a delicious meal that you made all on your own. There’s no better time to enjoy the art of cooking than winter! Invest in a good cookbook, get your kitchen into shape, and get cooking. Some people think they don’t like cooking, but it’s possible that they’re just not doing it the right way. Open a bottle of wine, get some music playing through the speaker, and take your time. It can be a highly satisfying way to spend an evening.

Entertainment Options

Some people prefer spring and summer not because they’re warmer, but because there’s just so much to do. If you’re one of those people, then you’ll have to get used to entertaining yourself inside your home. Fortunately, this is no difficult matter, especially in this day and age. For starters, let’s think about the digital options. If you’ve got the internet and a television, then you’ve got all the visual entertainment that you could want. Take a look at some of the best shows and movies on Netflix, for instance, and you might find that you’re racing home just to catch the next episode. Though of course, there’s more to having fun in the home than just what you can consume. You can be an active participant in the process, too, as in the case of board games, or reading a book. Between the internet, family board games, and a few page-turner novels, you’ll have no trouble keeping boredom at bay during winter.

Outside the Home

But who says you need to spend all of your time inside your property? You don’t. While being indoors will be your default position during the winter, you can still venture out to have some fun. But you might want to make it more deliberate than simply being out on the town. Don’t forget that there are a lot of fun winter activities to enjoy! If you get snow where you live, then snowshoeing or skiing (alpine or cross-country) could be fun options. Not that it has to be that adventurous. There’s much to be said for wrapping up warm and exploring the outdoors on a frigid but sunny winter’s day. And talking about wrapping up warm….

Staying Warm

By far the biggest complaint people have about the winter is that’s cold, often uncomfortably so. Some people like everything about winter except for the temperatures!  Alas, they’re unavoidable. But if you can’t change how cold it is, you can at least change how cold you are. Remember, there’s no such as weather that’s “too cold”; it’s all about what you’re wearing. So make sure you have clothes in the closet that are able to handle the chill. Take a look at adding some Sherpa pullovers, a warm hat, and down jacket to your wardrobe. No matter how cold things seem to get, you’ll be able to navigate the outdoors like a pro.

Get Active

There are certain things that humans need to be happy, one of which is exercise. Working up a sweat releases plenty of feelgood chemicals into our brains, and makes us happy. It’s that simple (actually, it’s pretty complex, but the idea is simple). The trouble is that during winter, when we naturally have low energy anyway and it’s dark outside, we don’t want to exercise. However, there are a lot of benefits to making an effort to get into your car and visit your gym. You’ll be able to keep that winter weight at bay, will be adding a good habit to your regime, and you’ll be in perfect shape come the spring and summer season. If you want to feel extra great, then go winter running in the outdoors. It’s one of those things that sounds terrible, but when you’re back and showered, you’ll feel on top of the world.

Take a Trip

A lot of people choose to take their vacation during the summer, but this doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. It’s hot and there’s so much to do during the summer, why go elsewhere? It makes sense during the winter, when many of us are deprived of our required dose of sunshine. If you’ve got some money tucked away, look at taking a trip to sunnier climates. It can be the perfect thing to break up the bleakness of the frigid winter season.

Work on a Project

You’re going to have a lot of things on your plate when the summer arrives. Things just stack up and up! During the winter, you’ll have more time on your hands. Why not use this gift of time to get to work on that project that you’ve always had in mind but never quite got around to? You might just find that you’ve got it completed by the time spring arrives. They say there’s never the perfect time to work in a project...but winter might be!

Enjoy your day. Until next time my lovelies.

Simple Self-Care For Busy Moms

This post is contributed.

Happy Thursday my friends. I hope your week is starting to wind down. My week has been going well for the most part. I am trying to be more mindful and accomplish smaller tasks like doing one load of laundry a day or emptying the dishwasher as soon as its done washing. I have been a bit lazy for the past couple of months and now that the new year is ahead of us, I am trying to get my stuff together.

I did injure my shoulder on Tuesday... Don't ask, cause I have no idea how I even managed it. I have been in a lot of discomforts and was eager to start a new exercise plan this week thanks to my younger sister and brother-in-law but had to put a pause to that.

If you want to put your best self forward, then as a mom, it is going to require some pretty intentional choices and decisions. And one thing that all moms find hard is putting themselves first. But as the old saying goes, if momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy. You can be a happy and healthy mom that has their stuff together, you just need to know the right steps to get you there.

So what are some of the purposeful choices that you need to be making as a mom? Think about your day and the choices that you have. As soon as your alarm goes off (if you’re not woken by your children, that is), you have the choice to sleep more and get up and at it. Some days, it can definitely be more of a mind over mattress situation, where the mattress wins. But other days, when you have a lot of get ready or you simply want time to wash and style your hair, then the intentional choice is to get up as you’re woken up.

Along those lines, self-care is really important and definitely an intentional decision that you need to make. You aren’t going to de-stress of stay on top of your mental health, for instance, without a little bit of intention. So here are some self-care ideas and things that you can do to make yourself a priority. You’ll be a better mom when you’re feeling like yourself.

Move More

Moving more and exercising is one of the best things that we can do for ourselves. It can work wonders on our physical health, mental health, and keep us fit and strong. We can feel more energized after moving and exercising, we can sleep better, and feel less stressed. So it is a winner all round. The good news is that you can choose what you enjoy as well. If you hate running, then pick a Zumba class, for instance. Just make sure you’re being intentional and doing something as often as you can.

Change the Things That You Can

In order to feel like yourself or take steps towards looking after yourself more, then changing what you can change could be just what you need to do. It could be that you want to get a haircut or change the color of it, take care of your nails, or even get something like braces to change something you might have wanted to change for a while. Things like removable braces are non-fixed braces, so that could be an easy thing to change when you’re a busy mom and don’t have too much time for yourself. What would you want to change first?

Practice Mindfulness

Being mindful is something that can make you more conscious of your own feelings, and can help you to deal with your day better. If you are feeling overwhelmed or stressed, then it can be an easy thing to do to make your day better. From meditating or doing yoga, or even just taking time to read a book without other distractions, can be just what you might need.

Until next time. Have a great day.

The first thing that you need to do is create a focal point in the room. You also need to create that wow factor as well. You can do this by hanging an oversized piece of art on one of your living room walls. This can have a huge impact on the feel of the room without too much hassle, not to mention that you can change it around at any time. You may be thinking that oversized art is expensive, and it most certainly is, but if you keep your eyes peeled at flea markets or even thrift stores then there is no reason why you can’t find something perfect for your home and at a price you can afford.

Simplify Everything

If you have a living room that has been over accessorised then this can make your space look disorganised and messy. You need to reduce your collection and you should only keep pieces that have some level of sentimental value. When you are able to simplify your space, you will soon find that the remaining elements stand out way more. If you are finding it hard to get rid of everything then you have nothing to worry about. Storage lockers are now way more affordable than ever before.

You can easily add some vintage or antique textiles to a room to make it stand out. You can even make your own throw pillows as well if you want. This is a fantastic way for you to make your home way more personal and it also helps you to create that visual impact as soon as someone walks into the room. Of course, if you are skilful then there is no reason why you couldn’t reupholster your chairs as well. The main thing that you have to remember here is that the more unusual the fabric, the better. You really want to choose something that your guests have never seen before, as this will give your home that unique and luxurious edge.

And lastly, you can add some unique flowers. When you do choose your colours, it helps to make sure that you go to a professional. You can count on them to advise you on the colours you are looking for and you can also get something really special. With Our Aloha are a great choice if you need some ideas. The best thing about flowers is that they add an element of freshness to any home and they also make it much easier to link colours in with one another as well. For example, if you have blues and reds in the same room, you could choose blue and red flowers to bring the two themes together.

Until next time mis amigas.

Christmas Gifts For The Creative Teen In Your Life

This post is contributed.

Have you done all your Christmas shopping yet? Maybe you’ve got a couple of presents to go, and you’re excitedly wrapping them up to be opened with joy on Christmas morning? What presents have you still got to purchase, and who for? Maybe it’s the teenager in your household… you’re just not sure what they’d want!

It can be hard to know what your teenager is truly interested in, and what kind of things they’d like to get for Christmas, but when they have a clear artistic or aesthetic side, it might not be too much of a challenge… After all, there’s a lot you can invest gift money into to foster these artistic ambitions, and make sure your teen is one of the happiest people alive on Christmas morning! So here’s a couple of ideas that might just help you.

There could be all kinds of magic inside here! (Image)

Equipment That’ll Boost Their Artistic Skills

Maybe they’re constantly complaining about the lack of light they have to work with? A light box would be the perfect equipment for you to gift them here! They’ll easily be able to transfer their work from one medium to another, or simply be able to better work out where shading needs to go on their art pieces.

Is your teen interested in the world of body art? Maybe they love using makeup to express themselves? Maybe they’re more interested in the serious side, and look to design tattoos one day? Well, now’s your chance to buy them a stencil printer for tattooing. They’ll be able to print out all the ideas they come up with, and see if they’re a realistic standard for a tattoo artist to work with - it’s the only way they’ll improve, and you will have fostered it!

A Novelty Backpack

Creative teenagers love to have something quirky and unique about the clothes they wear, and the accessories they adorn themselves with on top of that. Well, seeing as they’re still at school, why not use the internet to find them a novelty backpack to express themselves through? It’ll still carry all the essentials they need for class, just be a little prettier about it!

If the school they attend has a uniform for them to wear, or there’s a strict dress code for them to adhere to, then they won’t be able to always wear the things they want. This is where the accessories you pick out for them can come in - a backpack can be a great Christmas gift.

Some Quirky Jewelry

Speaking of accessories, if your teenager loves to be creative with everything they do, this is your chance to buy them some jewelry that rubs well with their personality! Something that’s a little less pretty and shiny, and more interesting and unique in its design -  even just checking out this site will give you some good ideas for what to buy.

Remember, your teenager will love any gift you buy them that fosters their unique creativity!
