Hi there!

Hey lovelies, welcome to SDB! I'm Natasha. I am a walking, talking mombie fueled by coffee. I am obsessed with shoes, all things glittery and/or sparkly, and I have an owl obsession. We talk about everything from motherhood, lifestyle, and all things inbetween. I am a mom of three kids and we reside in the Pacific Northwest. Thanks for tagging along! Now lets sit back and sip on a cup of coffee in the AM or wine in the PM and lets relax.

What's New with A.J. - The Month of December

I totally almost forgot to post what has been new with stinker baby for the month of December. Guess I got a little carried away with the holiday season. =] Typical. It doesn't help that I am easily distracted. Anywho, a lot has been going on with Amari these days. He is such an active little boy and I am enjoying every moment of it. He sure keeps everyone in his life on his or her toes.

- Amari is using double word combos like "Bye Daddy," and "Hi Mom."

- He can throw a ball (pretty hard and accurate) anywhere from 5 to 10 feet.

- He has met the kicking a ball milestone. He is my right-footed kicker.

- Amari loves to play ball and yells, "Hike" whenever he plays.

- Golf is his new favorite game to play with anything round or semi-round and his club is always a vacuum extension and he will scream, "Hike" at the top of his lungs whenever he hits the ball. It is pretty hilarious to watch.

- He has learned how to say shoe and tries to put his shoes on his own feet. He loves shoes and gets excited when he gets a new pair to try on. He likes shoes like his Mama! =]

- "Go," is his new favorite word to say as he runs through the house.

- He loves to jump, jump, jump!

- He can open the fridge when he wants milk or juice and he has learned how to say juice.

-  Amari loves to color and eat crayons. We are working on the not eating crayons part.

- He will sing (off key and in toddler gibberish) when you ask him to.

- Wrestling with Daddy is a game he loves to play.

- Elmo and Cookie Monster are his two bestest pals.

- Amari has gotten louder with age! LOL =P

- He loves to eat oranges.

- He enjoys running outside and inside and is super duper fast. We may have a future track star on our hands. =D

- He can say and sign, "Thank you."

And pretty much that is what's new with A.J. these days!

What's New with A.J. - The Month of November

Every day is an adventure with Amari. He learns something new on a daily basis. He is one smart little boy. He makes his parents very proud. Sure, some days are better than others when he isn't a little menace but those moments are rare, most of the time he is our sweet little Prince. He enjoys snuggle sessions, dance parties in the living room, and playing ball. He is 100% boy and we adore him.

- Amari says bye to everyone, even when no one is leaving. If you leave the room, you'll hear his sweet little voice say, "Byeee," and he'll wave.

- Elmo, also known as "Melmo," is Amari's favorite Muppet from Sesame Street. He adores his little red monster.

- Elmo in Grouchland is Amari's favorite new DVD. "Make It Mine" is his favorite song from the soundtrack.

- He loves oranges, apples, and bananas.

- He hates wearing hats unless they are five times the size of his head and belong to his favorite person, Daddy.

- He loves the limited edition peppermint Oreo's and any other cookie. He would make Cookie Monster proud.

- Surprisingly, Amari likes spicy food like his Mama (must of been all the hot peppers and salsa that he consumed when in the womb when I was pregnant). =]

- Sesame Street, Yo Gabba Gabba, Dinosaur Train, and Sid the Science Kid are his four favorite T.V. shows to watch.

- He now signs, " More please" and is learning to sign "Thank you." Some days he will say, "Thank you", but it sounds more like "Hank fo".

- He loves to play games like Hide-N-Seek, Peek-A-Boo, and This Little Piggy.

- He absolutely loves himself some football. =D

- He loves attention.

- Fort building is one of his favorite pass times.

- And he is learning how to jump (not up and down) but forward. We may have to get him a Fisher Price basketball hoop for his birthday so he can start working on his jumper. =]

And pretty much that is what's new with A.J. these days!

20 Months and A Day

I swear, October has gone bye so quickly...its already October 28th, and guess what that means? It means that Amari is 20 months and one day old today. My little prince is growing up so fast! Its hard for me to phantom that in four short months, he'll be turning 2. He is such a sweet little boy, very independent, loves to read and destroy his books (which makes me want to cry cause I love books and don't understand his logic at times), and he loves to dance dance dance. Cookie Monster and Elmo are his favorite Sesame Street characters and milk is one of his favorite things to drink. He is 100% boy, wild and crazy at times, a stinker when he wants to be, and has an attitude when he doesn't like something. He has no issue with making it known. He loves to give kisses and snuggle; Amari is definitely a Pieces through-and-through.

Happy 20 months Amari James!

Mommy and Daddy love and cherish you.

Our Trip to the Pumpkin Patch!

Yesterday morning the Durant families headed to Lattin's Country Cider Mill and Farm to pick out our carving pumpkins for Halloween. Like an idiot, I forgot my camera. Usually I keep the crappy Olympus one in the car but I took it out on Thursday when cleaning out the car... Merde! Thankfully, Betsy brought along hers and I managed to get trigger happy and take lots and lots of pictures of our adventurist outing to the pumpkin patch.

Amari loved the petting zoo! He got to pet a goat and look at sheep. He was in animal heaven. Trev kept cracking jokes and making fun of Ness by saying that he could smell her from five feet away when we were near the goats. *sigh* Why must big brother's always be so mean to their sweet little sisters? After spending a few minutes at the zoo we went to check out the birds. While we were looking at them, we saw a man that looked just like Poppi Steve, only he was wearing black jeans instead of blue ones. Steve and Betsy went to get apple fritters and cider but Trev, Ness, and I were cracking up and went on a mission to find them! Amari was more than ecstatic that Grammy and Poppi had bought him a fritter and chowed down on the most delicious apple fritter made in the Olympia area. We told Steve about his twin and had to go and find him, LOL. Both Betsy and Steve didn't think that he looked like him though.

We headed to the pumpkin patch with Amari after enjoying our yummy fritters. =) He loved trumping through the patch with his Auntie and trying to pick up every pumpkin (even the yucky moldy ones!). He kept calling the pumpkins "balls" and trying to throw them. It was pretty precious watching him trying to pick up pumpkins that were the size of him. He had a blast, threw a few fits when we would take a pumpkin away from him, but eventually he found his pumpkin and I cannot wait to carve it with him in a few short weeks. We had a wonderful time at Lattin's Country Cider Mill this year. =D

Sweet boy playing with pumpkins.
Apple Fritter time!
Sweet little Ness.

The Durant's and their pumpkin.
Amari wanted this one, but Daddy said "no," LOL.
Unhappy because he couldn't throw "balls" also known as pumpkins around the patch.

The boys and their pumpkins.
Note: Steve's twin is behind him in the hat, glasses, and black jacket. LOL
Everyone else is happy but Amari.
He wanted to hold his pumpkin.

Amari picked it out. =)

Peanut Butter Canon Balls

Updated as of 3/3/2017.

I recently just discovered this old recipe that I posted back in September of 2011 when I was working as a Site Director at the YMCA. I forgot how easy, delicious, and simple this no bake ball was until I made again earlier this week. I made them with my own kids and we decided to call them Peanut Butter Canon Balls for a fun pirate themed treat.

The recipe is super easy, a no bake that all kids and adults will enjoy (with the exception of those who are allergic to peanut butter). You can also add chunks of chocolate or chocolate chips, grated nuts if you're not a coconut fan, or even use sun butter instead of peanut butter for those with allergies. I plan on experimenting with this recipe until I find the right combination for my family.

Amari's 18 Month Photo's are Here... Yay! :D

My friend Becky took Amari's 18 month photo's back in August. Stinker was soOo tired that day; I was so happy that she was able to capture his sweet precious smile and his stank-eye face, LOL. We ended up having his shoot taken at Tumwater Historical Park. Originally, we were planning on having his photos taken at Tumwater Falls but decided on the park. I have been to the park only once before and it was the perfect place to capture stinker in his own element.  Some of my favorite photos of him are on the bridge and a pathway with fallen leaves. He was so fascinated by the rocks, leaves, and sticks on the ground. =) Here a few of my favorite pictures.

I am so excited. OUR WEDDING PICTURES ARE FINALLY HERE! Diana Sell did such an amazing job. I feel so blessed to have had a my childhood mentor and family friend capture our special day. The photos turned out beautifully and I cannot wait to get my favorite ones professionally framed so they can be displayed throughout our home.
