Ecocentric Mom: Mommy & Me October Box

This post has been brought to you by Ecocentric Mom and contains affiliate links. By clicking on links and subscribing to Ecocentric Mom membership I will make a small compensation. All thoughts and opinions are my own based off experiences with products.

The theme for October was the Heathy Home Collection. It was filled with mostly items for your home and I loved it.

Here is what came in my October Mom & Baby Box:

Lilac Moon Company Laundry Suds in Citrus Scent
Sample Size

Such a great laundry soap! I used this on our towels and my husband and I’s bed sheets. They came out super soft and smelling like citrus. I will be purchasing more laundry suds in the future.

Simply Earth 100% Wool Dryer Balls

For a year now I have wanted wool dryer balls and was so exited to get these in my box this month. I have been using them all month long. I put a little orange essential oil on them and toss them in with a load in the dryer. Our clothes come out smelling amazing and super soft. If you haven’t used dryer balls, you should. They are game changers in the laundry room and no more tossing dryer sheets in the trash!

Eek Halloween! by Sandra Boynton

My kids love books so it was nice to get a new book. We have read this book often and my toddler adores it. Sandra Boynton books are some of our favorites.

Coconut Karma Portable Coconut Oil

I have used this portable coconut oil in my hair as well as in my coffee. It’s simple to use but I have to hide it cause my kids thought it was applesauce and tried to eat it!

Puracy Natural Washroom Spray in Lavender & Vanilla Scent

Who doesn’t love the smell of lavender and vanilla? I love this spray and it doesn’t give me headache like typical sprays with harsh chemicals.

Nature’s Baby Organics Conditioner & Detangler in Vanilla Tangerine Scent

I have tried a lot of different conditioners and detangler sprays on my daughter’s hair but I officially am loving Nature’s Baby Organics! It smells like a orange creamsicle and leaves my daughter’s long hair soft, tangle free, and smelling delicious.

I know I say this every month that I get my box from Ecocentric Mom’s, but y’all deserve to treat yourself! You now have the option of selecting two items in your box each month and they have expanded the membership options to include Pregnancy, Mom & Baby, Mom & Toddler (which was the option I chose), and just Mom. You can even skip months now and shipping is always free. The cost for a box from Ecocentric Mom’s is $27.99 and it is totally worth it. I have enjoyed all the items that I have received the past six months and my tot really liked the surprises in the box that came for her.

This post has been brought you by More Love Co. and contains affiliate links. I was not financially compensated for this post; however, received product for free to write this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own based of my experience with the products.

As a mom I am always looking to find pretty accessories to put in my daughter’s hair. Aurora is incredibly girly and every morning asks me to brush her hair and put a pretty in it so she can go about her day. She has all sorts of different hair bows, clips, and headbands that I have found at all sorts of places, many of them from small shops on Etsy.

My sister-in-law has a friend that is a young entrepreneur who recently started up her own small business. Her little shop on the web is called More Love Co. and is based out of Olympia, Washington. She was sweet enough to gift my daughter a few of her bows. They are lovely and have become some of Aurora’s favorite hair accessories.  She is smitten over the Frayed Pink Bow and often refers to it as “Poppy.” For all you mom’s out there, you must be aware of the infamous Trolls movie too. The girl is obsessed with it!

What I love about More Love Co. is that they have one goal in mind and that goal is “to have something for the extra girly side of all of us."(quoted from the site).” They have everything from lace headbands, to cute cat ears, and simple bows. They are also very affordable and would make a cute gift for birthdays and the holiday season. Product ranges from $3 to $12 and would make a great stocking stuffer for the little girl in your life.

How I Decorate Our Home for Fall

Fall is officially upon us. I know that I have mentioned this before but it is my favorite season. I enjoy looking out my window and seeing the rain falling from the gray skies above and watching the maple trees change colors. Although I have kept our home decor to a minimum this season due to slowly redecorating our main living space I find that it is still quite cozy and warm.

Now I am not a home décor blogger but I do enjoy making our home feel inviting. Here are a few tips that I like use to decorate our home for the fall.

I love making our home feel cozy by decorating our sofa and arm-chair with all sorts of pillows. I recently purchased checkered linen covers and keep it simple by keeping the color palette in the neutral shades of creams and gray.

It gets chilly here in the Portland area at night. So I make it a habit to buy new blankets often. In the fall, thick knits are my favorite as well as blankets that are "soft like puppies" fur. I personally like to snuggle up with the kids (because they are mini little heaters) with a blanket while we watch football and drink hot apple cider. I added my Grandma's old wool blanket to my little bench and it's a nice pop of red and navy upon entering our home. I just recently added the blanket ladder next to the window. It’s made by a local guy in the Portland area and hung my favorite throws underneath a simple hay wreath.

I love the aroma of pumpkin spice. To me it is the greatest smell ever. I purchase candles as well as wax melts to put in warmers so our home smells like a fresh homemade pumpkin pie just came out of the oven. I also love the soft glow of the candles burning at night. It gives our living area a cozy feel and it's nice and relaxing after a hard days work.

Pinecones that once scattered across my late Grandmother's lawn are now adorned in a pretty basket. Tree limbs from my husbands Grandparent's house on the lake are in a vase with acorn ornaments in shades or orange, green, and brown. In past seasons, our color palette was in dark shades of orange but this season I wanted it to be more subtle with a few pops of orange and red here and there. Faux leaves in my favorite owl vase and garlands mixed in with greenery add nice touches. I also used inexpensive willow branches to make wreaths with burlap ribbon to hang from doors in our entryway/hallway.

Autumn throughout our space is minimal and this year I am enjoying the simplicity. For now, I am content with it. I still would like to find a DIY coffee table and a rug to add texture and more warmth to our living area. I also have plans to make a DIY cushion for our kitchen bench and possibly paint our table. Our home is a work in progress but eventually it will be done.

Mommy Style: Embroidered Denim Jacket

Happy Halloween! Can you believe that October is pretty much over? This month just went bye so fast.

I am absolutely loving this outfit post today. I ended up getting the denim jacket it in my very first Dia & Co box. Upon first glance I wasn’t feeling it but when I put it on for the first time I fell in love. Thanks Ashby (my stylist) for sending me such a cool jacket. I get complements every time I wear it. I love the hummingbird and floral details and the simplicity of the faded denim. I paired it with an old oversized tee in my favorite color and my favorite jeans as well as mustard corduroy sneakers I found at Target for less than $6. This a perfect casual look for getting lunch with friends or running errands around town. I know this denim jacket is going to be my go-to for the rest of the autumn months.

I hope you all have a wonderful and spooktacular Halloween! Be safe and remember, “It’s just a bunch of hocus pocas!”
Jacket from Dia&Co $75.00 | Jeans from Target $30.00 | Sneaks from Target $5.98 | Top is old | Earrings from Forever21

My Product Review of Maple Holistics + Giveaway

This post has been brought to you by Maple Holistics and contains affiliate links. I was not financially compensated for this post; however, received product to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own based off my experience with the product.

Curly hair has a mind of its own. You’ve probably heard this from anyone that has naturally curly hair. It’s the truth. I have tried all sorts of different shampoos and unfortunately they all dried out my hair and left it looking fried like I had just stuck my finger in an electrical socket. Not only was my hair looking a hot mess but my scalp was dry, itchy, and flaky from all the awful chemicals in the shampoo.

My scalp itched and my hair looked like a disaster...until a representative from Maple Holistics reached out to me and offered to send me a bottle of their Tea Tree Shampoo to tryout.

I will admit that I was a little skeptical at first but after using the product the first time I noticed a huge difference in how my scalp felt. I noticed that by mid-day my scalp wasn’t as itchy or flaky compared to when I use other name brand products. I also noticed an improvement on the texture of my hair. It felt softer and was less frizzy. It also smelled really good and has a therapeutic smell. I love that our entire family can use this product. Even my three-year-old daughter likes it when I wash her hair with the Tea Tree Shampoo

Here are some of the benefits of using the Tea Tree Shampoo and Conditioner:

- Promotes healthy hair growth
- Can slowdown hair loss, thinning, and shedding
- Help prevent dandruff and flaking
- Helps smooth irritated scalp
- Leaves hair and scalp feeling rejuvenated and fresh
- And if you have kids like I do it helps to naturally eradicate head lice *Lice don’t like Tea Tree oil if y'all l didn't know that!*

All Maple Holistics hair care products are suitable for men, women, and children. Are cruelty free, and free of sulfates, GMO’s, parabens and gluten. All products are made with the purest and highest quality ingredients to enhance your daily living, hygiene, and overall health and made in the USA. They not only offer hair care products but also an assortment of products from bath and body care, to personal care, to skin care, and even healthy food options. No matter what your individual needs are, they have something for everyone.

And don’t forget to check out their Free Product samples. I am eagerly awaiting my Toy Cleaner sample and think it’s great that Maple Holistics allows you to test out their products.

Now on to the Giveaway!

Maple Holistics has amazing lines of hair care products and I am loving their Tea Tree Shampoo and Conditioner. And let me tell you, it’s amazing!

With winter right around the corner, I decide that I would like to giveaway the shampoo and conditioner duo Winter Blend to one of you.

Good luck ladies! I hope you enjoyed learning about this amazing brand and the products they have to offer. I will be selecting a winner at random from all the entries at the end of the week.

American Girl Doll Grand Opening at Washington Square Mall

This post has been brought you by the American Girl and The Ace Agency and contains affiliate links. All thoughts and opinions are based off my daughter and I's experience at the grand opening of the American Girl store at Washington Square Mall in Portland, Oregon.

Last month marked the grand opening of the American Girl temporary store in the Portland Metro Area. Although our family resides in Vancouver, Washington; it's just a forty minute commute for us across the river to the Washington Square Mall.

My daughter Aurora joined me for this experience. I thought it would be a fun mommy/daughter date and seeing that she  loves dolls it only made sense to bring her along. For the past year, I have been researching the American Girl Doll collection looking for a doll that resembles my multiracial daughter. When I was a child we had limited options so it's amazing to see dolls with complexions ranging from ivory to dark chocolate and all shades in between; representing the young girl's from America's diverse melting pot.

Upon entering the 4,000 square foot store located within Washington Square Mall we were greeted at the front entrance by an American Girl employee who handed us a free gift to take home. Aurora was in awe when her big brown eyes landed on all the displays neatly arranged with the 18" inch dolls from the Truely Me, BeForever, and contemporary lines as well as the Wellie Wishers and the Bitty Baby lines. She immediately went on a mission exploring all the dolls and of course play with and messing up the displays! She awed over their cute accessories and cuddled every girl that was on display. She was especially smitten over the newest addition to the BeForever Doll Collection. Her name is Nanea (Nah-NEY-ah). She is helpful and kind and has the prettiest hazel eyes. The meaning behind her name in Hawaiian is tranquil and fascinating (yes I looked it up!). She's one gorgeous American Doll and Aurora didn't want to leave her behind.

The American Girl store will remain open until January 28, 2018 at the Washington Square Mall. So all my Washingtonian and Oregonian  friends, you have plenty of time to visit the store before the holiday season's upon us. I know my daughter would love an American Doll for Christmas and we have put it on her Christmas wishlist this year! So why not pick up your very own American Girl for the sweet little girl in your life?

Ecocentric Mom Series: September Mom Box Review

This post has been brought to you by Ecocentric Mom and contains affiliate links. By clicking on links and subscribing to Ecocentric Mom membership I will make a small compensation. All thoughts and opinions are my own based off experiences with products.

My September Mom Box arrived from Ecocentric Mom and literally it is happiness in a box for me. I look forward to that beautiful teal box sitting on my doorstep each month filled with new products for me to tryout at home. The theme for September  is the Date Night/Play Date Collection. It's filled with mostly personal care items but a girl can never have too much lotions and facial cleaner.

Here is what came in my September Mom Box:

Lyeska Facial Cleanser - So far I am really liking this facial cleaner. My skin feels fresh and clean after each use and I have noticed that I am not breaking out as often as I usually do. It smells great too.

Sincerely Different Scar & Stretch Slave - I used this on my inner tub burn I got a couple of weeks ago when we went to Summit Lake. The scar is healing great and I even use this product on my kids when they get scrapes and scratches when we are out and about.

Miracle Tree Moringa Organic Superfood Tea - This tea is yummy. I love apple cinnamon tea. I make sure I pack a couple of tea bags with my lunch to drink throughout the day. There is nothing like a hot cup of tea while doing data entry at the office.

Glow for a Cause Body Butter (Inspire scent) - I keep this in my purse and use it mostly after washing my hands. It keeps my hands mosturized and soft. It also smells really good.

Glow for a Cause Perfume (Inspire scent) - I used this product once. It smells nice but the fragrance didn't last long. If you like a shuttle scent this ones for you. I like a stronger perfume that last throughout the day.

Yum Earth Organic Sour Twists - I let the kids eat these and they loved them. The bag was gone in less than a minute. I didn't even get to try them but the kids said they were delicious!

If you have not ordered yourself a box from Ecocentric Mom you so need to do it! It's a nice way to treat yourself as a busy mom. The company recently made some changes which I think is amazing. They expanded their memberships to include Pregnancy, Mom & Baby, Mom & Toddler, and just Mom. Next month I will be getting a Mom & Toddler box to review for you all. You can also select 2 products from the collection each month and Ecocentric Mom will pick the rest of the 3+ items in your box to keep the surprises factor when you open it. They also added the ability to skip months on the memberships. And shipping is free on all shop purchases. The cost for a box from Ecocentric Mom is $27.99 and it is worth it. I have loved all the items that I have received over the past five months.

Mommy Style: My Favorite Military Vest for Fall Transitional Outfits

The weather is finally starting to cool down her in the Portland Metro Area and I have been dying to bust out my new cream thermal and my favorite olive military vest I found at Ross last autumn. I wore it all fall and winter long last year and I love that it has so many pockets so that I can store my phone and lipgloss when I have my tiny bag that fits only my wallet and keys.

Thermals are new to me. The last time  I wore one was when I was in elementary school. That was a long time ago! I purchased one out on a whim one day when I was at Wal-Mart. Let's just say that it was the best $7 that I ever spent. The thermal is super soft and comfortable and I plan on getting more in other colors for the fall.

The boyfriend jeans came in one of my fixes from Stitch Fix. They are super comfortable and I love dressing them up by pairing them with a basic tee and pumps or causally like I did with booties. I tried to find my booties online but sadly, they are all sold old. If I do find them any time soon, I'll make sure to link them below. They are my favorite pair off booties.

I hope the weather near you is starting to cool down. It's slowly feeling like fall here. Thanks for stopping bye. Have a great week friends!

Mommy Style: Fuchsia/Plum Tunic and Floppy Hat

I am sucker for tunics. They have been my go-to top since I gave birth to my daughter almost three years ago. They are perfect for the autumn and winter months. What I love about this summer tunic is the color. How pretty is that fuchsia/plum hue? I paired it with my favorite pair of denim jeans and my Steve Madden loafers. I also added this cute floppy hat to give it more of a fall-like vibe to complete the look. I originally wanted to wear a cardigan I got in one of my fixes from Stitch Fix last winter but it was too hot out. I love it and it's really comfortable and the asymmetrical shape is pretty fun and I hope to wear it soon with a different outfit.

Tomorrow my youngest son starts his final year of preschool. He is really excited to see his teacher and friends again. He has learned so much and even though he still struggles with speech he has improved a lot this past year. I know my husband and I are both excited for our boys to be back in school. I hope you had a wonderful three day weekend. I know I sure did watching football, spending time out at Summit Lake with my husbands family, and cleaning up the house. I even started putting up some of the fall décor.

What did you do over the Labor Day holiday?

Thanks for stopping bye and have a wonderful day.

Mommy Style: Blue Suede Boots & Baby Blue Dress

It's the last week of summer vacation for my big boy. He heads back to school on Wednesday. The weather has been lovely, high 90's and sunshine. We went on our weekly walk around the historic Fort Vancouver. It happens to be our favorite park in the Couve and is full of so much history. The kids love the old English cottages. Both my husband and I are happy to we are getting back to our school schedule in a couple days. Tonight we find out who Amari's new teacher is going to be and he is getting pretty excited about it too.

With summer slowly coming to an end I have been looking through my wardrobe to find key summer staples that I can transition into the fall. I purchased this dress on a whim (from Kmart of all places). I love their fall line and often find some great pieces that are good quality and made really well. I purchased a majority of my favorite sweaters from here and they are still in great condition.

What I love about this dress is the blue hues throughout the dress and the fabric's  thin enough to wear in warmer temperatures without getting too hot. I also like that my Mom belly isn't the main attention seeker either. I feel comfortable in my skin when wearing this pretty dress and the color complements my complexion well. It's perfect for the office too! Come fall, I will wear tights or leggings with boots and a cute scarf to complete the look. The blue "suede" booties are also a Kmart find. I bought them last winter and absolutely adore them! They are so comfortable and I often get complaints when I wear them.

Leave me a comment and let me know what you are most looking forward to come autumn. I would love to hear your comments. Have a wonderful day friends!

Mommy Style: B&W Stripes and Pumpkin Cardigan

With fall just around the corner, I am getting eager to bust out some of my favorite cardigans and booties that I can pair with some of my summer staples like this off the shoulder top I am wearing. I have had this top since April and sadly it just sat in my closet and was often overlooked by me. Honestly, it's one of those tops that whenever I put it one I feel insecure about how my arms and shoulders look while wearing it. I was hoping to loose more weight before summer ended but I felt like I was running out of time to wear it so I gathered up all my courage and wore it to work underneath my favorite pumpkin cardigan.

I paired it with a pair of black jeans and my favorite mules I found from Rue21. I love the bow details and these shoes are super comfortable. I wore them one day while window shopping with a few of my mentee's and my feet didn't hurt at all. These shoes are perfect for those warm autumn days when it's still too warm to wear booties and opened toed shoes are still acceptable to wear.

The off the shoulder top I found at Ross. It was one of those blouses where I saw it, liked it, put it back, and came back ten minutes later cause I couldn't stop picturing various outfits in my head that I could wear it with. It's such a pretty top and the material is flowy and the fabric keeps you pretty cool during those warmer summer days. I also am obsessed with stripes. I have way too many stripped tops in my wardrobe but didn't have any vertical stripes. What I like about it is that it makes my mom belly look a little slimmer instead of wider and the stripes are pretty thin. I see myself wearing this blouse a couple times in September and throwing a cardigan over it when I'm at the office and wearing it without one when I get coffee with my sisters or brunch with friends.

The tassel earrings are a favorite accessory of mine. I wear them at least three times a week. I found these at Wal-Mart of all places for $4.00! They had other colors too.

What summer transitional pieces are you most excited to wear with some of your fall staples? I would love to hear your comments. Thanks for stopping bye and have a lovely day friends.

P.S. Sorry for the weird camera angles. I was teaching my mentee how to take photos but she forgot that you need to turn the camera for full length photos. Next time.
