How to Keep Your Kids Entertained When You're Working from Home

When it comes to keeping your kids entertained, it can often feel like an uphill struggle. The older they get, the more energy they have, and simply putting them down for a nap will soon become a habit that you can no longer do.

Working from home does mean that there are a lot of distractions to deal with, including your kids when they’re off from school. With that being said, if you’re struggling to keep your kids entertained, then here are some top tips to keep them entertained so that you can still get work done!

Build them a fort

Who doesn’t want to build a fort in their living room as a child? It’s a great way to inspire their creativity, but it’s also a good way for them to do some playing, despite their age. There’s a lot they can do when they’re younger, and they have a fort available.

Consider building a fort the night before the following day or getting up early in the morning to set up the scene before they wake up. The more exciting you make it, the more they’ll likely enjoy it for a longer period of time.

Even for the older kids, building a fort is a great way to become a young kid again, so get all of them involved.

Stick on a movie

If you’re someone who is struggling with ideas and doesn’t have the time to build a blanket fort of any scale, then the next best thing is to rely on your technology.

Whether it’s the best beach movies currently on one of the streaming platforms or a classic favorite of theirs, a movie day is always a great way to keep them engaged and at least satisfied for a couple of hours.

Find movies that are going to keep your kids hooked to the television screen, and do movies sparingly throughout the time they’re off. Time it so that you can get those all-important calls and tasks done without any distractions.

Print off some activity sheets to keep them occupied

There’s an abundance of opportunities online, and it’s a resource hub that you want to take full advantage of when it comes to entertaining the kids.

If you’re looking for some fun activities to pass the time or you’re looking to encourage them into doing some educational activities, then print some activity sheets off.

Make sure your printer is full of ink and paper so that this becomes a regular feature during their time off!

Do some baking during your lunch break

If you’ve got a lunch break available, then you could always do some baking during your lunch break. Perhaps you start the prep in the morning and then do some more during your lunch break, where, at this point, they can munch down on their creations. 

Create a scavenger hunt

Finally, when the sun is out, and you’ve got the advantage of chucking them outside in the garden, consider doing a scavenger hunt. Something like what you’d do with an easter egg hunt but make it a little more complex in order for them to find their prizes.
