What better time to make positive changes to your life than New Year’s. We’ve all heard of making resolutions, but few of us manage to stick with them, especially if they don’t seem to work or show any useful results. However, when it comes to your skin, it’s worth at least trying out a few of these New Year’s skincare resolutions because you’ll be surprised at how much more radiant your skin could appear.

It’s not summer yet but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t wear the sunscreen
Far too many people think that sunscreen is only for summer, but if you think about it, it’s not like the sun doesn’t show during the winter. The sun is out no matter what time of year it is, so if you’re going to go outside you should always apply sunscreen to protect your skin from ultraviolet radiation. Regular sunscreen use will slow down premature ageing and also isn’t as expensive as you think.
Drink more water even if you think you’re drinking enough
Everyone’s heard that we should drink more water for clearer skin, but random amounts are thrown around such as eight glasses, two litres and so on. However, everyone’s body is different and the ideal amount of water to drink depends on your body. A good way to measure how much water you’re drinking is to look at the color of your urine. If it’s a dark yellow then you’re drinking too little, but if it’s completely clear then you’re drinking too much. You should ideally drink enough so that your urine isn’t completely clear but has at least a hint of yellow to it.
Pamper yourself now and then and go for some kind of treatment
There are plenty of aesthetic treatment options such as going to a spa, speaking to medical professionals or seeking out interesting alternate treatments that are said to help you improve your skin. Every now and then, it’s a good idea to go out (remember your sunscreen!) and experience some kind of skin-pampering session. If it helps to clear your skin and keep you looking younger, then it’s well worth the trip and the cost.
Don’t be afraid to visit your dermatologist
Dermatologists are an underrated source of information that can help you solve complicated skin conditions that you don't understand or that keep coming back. Dermatologists know more than you think about your skin (it’s their job, after all) so they can give you some useful advice on how to keep your skin clear and how to deal with certain skin conditions. Almost anyone can benefit from a visit to their dermatologist, so make sure you book regular appointments and have them examine any skin conditions that you think you might have, or even just let them perform a check so they can give you some helpful advice and products to help your skin.
Self-care is very important, and taking care of your skin is just one of the many ways that you can learn to appreciate yourself just a little more.
