10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me

Happy Wednesday Friends! Is it just me or has July kinda flown bye? I've been taking a little break from blogging but I thought that I would share some fun and random facts about me. I needed to take a break from packing tiny clothes for our trip to Bend in a few days. Besides, sometimes I just love jumping on bandwagons and this is one of them.

Here are some (not all) of the random facts about me:

1. HISTORY.
I am a History nerd. I love history so much, especially U.S. History. I have always been fascinated by it. I'm the type of person who gets excited when I find the Constitution for a dollar at the Dollar Tree and buy it to add to my collection of books that still sit in boxes in storage. I have boxes full of history books and the two most beat up books I own are "Lies My Teacher Told Me" by James Lowen and "A People's History" by Howard Zinn. I religiously watch the history channel and documentaries on Netflix too.

2. SOFTBALL.
I played competitive fast-pitch for 10 years of my life. I was that girl on the team who's jersey was always covered in dirt and the white on my stirrups were permanently stained brown from all the sliding and diving I did. I played mid-infield (shortstop and 2nd base). I hit left handed and throw right handed. I also have lots of scars on the back of my thighs from some nasty raspberries I received sliding into bases. A couple years ago I ended up getting stitched because my tooth went through my lip after I got hit by a ball in the face. Now I have a lump on my bottom lip that messes up all my pretty lipsticks.

3. FERRETS.
Growing up I had a ferret as a pet. His name was Weasel. He was a silver mitt and passed away when I was 16. I loved that little guy. When I turned 21 in college I bought another ferret and named him Anansi after the Spider-Man Trickster in African Folklore. He was also a silver mitt and was a feisty little shit. I used to joke with my friends that I would be a "ferret lady" instead of a cat lady when I get old.

4. MEXICAN CANDY.
I will destroy a bag of delicious Mexican candy. Thankfully only my daughter likes it and I don't have to share it with anyone else!

5. I HATE MILK.
I'm actually lactose intolerant and shouldn't have dairy. Sad I know. I've never really been a huge dairy fan but I do like cheese and ice cream sometimes. The thought of drinking milk actually makes me sick to my stomach. I have never liked the taste of it and even when I would eat cereal as a kid I used to dump the milk out after eating it.

6. I HAVE NEVER BROKEN A BONE.
The closest I have ever come to breaking a bone was when I got hit in the wrist by 65 mile an hour fastball. My hand swelled up like Professor Klump and I still played in the 4th of July tournament the next day.

7. I HAVE NEVER BEEN OUTSIDE THE STATES.
So sad, so true. I don't even have a passport. The furthest I have ever been was to NYC. I have been to Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, and Minnesota. I'm slacking on my travel game. Now that I have kids it has taken a back burner. One day we will travel somewhere. I'm itching to go to a tropical climate like Hawaii or the Caribbean.

8. I AM A SOCAL GIRL LIVING IN THE NORTHWEST.
I was born in Long Beach, California! I have been to Cali more times than I can count. Whenever I go back I feel like I'm home. Last spring when my husband and I went to Palm Desert I was in heaven. There is something about the sunshine state and the heat that I miss. I moved to Oregon when I was four and have lived in the Great Pacific Northwest ever since. Sure I miss the sun but I love the PNW and all it's vast greenness.

9. I HAVE A FEAR OF SNAKES.
Call it fear, phobia, or even pure hatred. I do not like snakes. Everything about them is unnatural from the way they move to the fact  they have no legs or arms. They absolutely disgust me! And when you add venomous ones to the mix I want to cry. So nasty! I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about them. I refuse to go into the reptile section at the zoo or even into a pet store. The mere sight of a snake makes every hair on my body stand on end. Disgusting!

10. I SUCK AT MATH.
Math and I are not friends. I feel like an idiot as soon as people start talking big numbers to me. I zone out. Math just doesn't make any sense to me especially when you start adding in letters and strange symbols. All I need to know is how to keep my checkbook balanced and I'm good.

So there you have it. Ten random facts about me. Thanks for stopping bye y'all. Have a wonderful day. I'm going to enjoy relaxing by the pool this weekend.
