Nobody wants their home to smell funky, but it is not uncommon for homes to take on various unpleasant odors from time to time. The good news is, you can very easily avoid funky odors and maintain a fresh-smelling home if you do a few simple things…

Clean your carpets

If you want your home to always be fresh-smelling, the first thing you need to do is learn more about carpet cleaning. It is such an important part of keeping your home clean and removing trapped odors that you need to think about cleaning your carpets every few months or having a professional carpet cleaning company do so.

Vacuum regularly

As well as cleaning carpets regularly, you should be vacuuming your carpets and upholstery every day or so to get rid of dust, debris, and crumbs that could start to smell if they are not dealt with.

Open the windows

Opening your windows for at least an hour each day is another great way to ensure your home smells fresh. Doing so will let out bad smells and let in fresh air which will clear the space of any unpleasant odors that are lingering.

Keep the garbage disposal fresh

If your garbage disposal starts to smell, one really good way of instantly freshening it up is to throw a lemon or two down there. As the lemon is squished by the disposal unit, it will release its fresh citrusy scent and the whole of your home will start to smell amazing. Do this once a week and you will never have to worry about bad garbage disposal smells.

Take the trash out

Taking the trash out every day will ensure that your home never starts to smell due to rotting food particles. Yes, tsking the trash out is no one’s favorite thing, but this really will make a huge difference to how fresh your home smells so it is absolutely worth doing.

Put baking sodas in the fridge

If your fridge often smells funky, then one simple thing you can do is to open a package of baking soda and then place it on the shelf of your refrigerator. The baking soda will absorb all of those annoying food smells so they don’t taint the fridge and get released onto the kitchen.

Diffuse essential oils

Once your home is as clean as possible, if you still want to freshen things up and make sure that your home always smells totally amazing, you need to invest in an essential oil diffuser. These diffusers can be used to add a fresh scent to your home fast. Simply fill with water and a few drops of your favorite essential oil, lemongrass and bergamot are particularly fresh, and switch on, the machine will then fill your home with the most beautiful aromas that will linger.

As you can see, it is really not that difficult to maintain a fresher-smelling home. As long as you are willing to keep the place clean, freshness is not at all difficult to find.
