American Girl Doll Grand Opening at Washington Square Mall

This post has been brought you by the American Girl and The Ace Agency and contains affiliate links. All thoughts and opinions are based off my daughter and I's experience at the grand opening of the American Girl store at Washington Square Mall in Portland, Oregon.

Last month marked the grand opening of the American Girl temporary store in the Portland Metro Area. Although our family resides in Vancouver, Washington; it's just a forty minute commute for us across the river to the Washington Square Mall.

My daughter Aurora joined me for this experience. I thought it would be a fun mommy/daughter date and seeing that she  loves dolls it only made sense to bring her along. For the past year, I have been researching the American Girl Doll collection looking for a doll that resembles my multiracial daughter. When I was a child we had limited options so it's amazing to see dolls with complexions ranging from ivory to dark chocolate and all shades in between; representing the young girl's from America's diverse melting pot.

Upon entering the 4,000 square foot store located within Washington Square Mall we were greeted at the front entrance by an American Girl employee who handed us a free gift to take home. Aurora was in awe when her big brown eyes landed on all the displays neatly arranged with the 18" inch dolls from the Truely Me, BeForever, and contemporary lines as well as the Wellie Wishers and the Bitty Baby lines. She immediately went on a mission exploring all the dolls and of course play with and messing up the displays! She awed over their cute accessories and cuddled every girl that was on display. She was especially smitten over the newest addition to the BeForever Doll Collection. Her name is Nanea (Nah-NEY-ah). She is helpful and kind and has the prettiest hazel eyes. The meaning behind her name in Hawaiian is tranquil and fascinating (yes I looked it up!). She's one gorgeous American Doll and Aurora didn't want to leave her behind.

The American Girl store will remain open until January 28, 2018 at the Washington Square Mall. So all my Washingtonian and Oregonian  friends, you have plenty of time to visit the store before the holiday season's upon us. I know my daughter would love an American Doll for Christmas and we have put it on her Christmas wishlist this year! So why not pick up your very own American Girl for the sweet little girl in your life?
