4 Super-Simple Ways To Feel Better About Yourself, Instantly

In a lot of ways, practising self-love is a little bit like flossing: we all know it’s super good for us and yet we avoid it like the plague. But, trust us, there is no better way to spend your downtime than doing all you can to feel better about yourself. After all, you’re probably going to have to live with you for your entire life, which is an awfully long time to hang around with someone you’re not that comfortable with.

Of course, one of the big reasons why we don’t try harder on the self-loving front is probably because we all think feeling better about ourselves requires drinking some sort of kale and spinach gloop through a flaxseed straw. But it doesn’t. In fact, there are far simpler ways to feel great about yourself, and that’s what we’re about to delve into.

1. Stop Weighing Yourself Bi-Daily
No day should start with a “pass or fail” scenario, ever. Sure, there’s a chance you could kickstart your day with a mini-air punch, but it could just as easily go the other way and make you feel absolutely miserable for the rest of the day, and that’s because your weight can fluctuate by up to 6lbs in a single day. But that’s not the only reason you should break this habit. It’s also because weighing yourself says very little about your health. Basically, ditch the scales. You’ll feel so much better for it.

2. Listen To The Compliments
You probably think we’re talking utter nonsense, preferring to say you never receive compliments, but that’s rarely true. Instead, you ignore the compliments you receive simply because they don't align with the view you have of yourself. That’s why most people dismiss words of kindness. To break this habit, try writing down every single compliment you receive this week. All of them, from the "great work" you receive to the "that was funny" comment and, yes, the "I love your top". This will force you to pay attention to the nice things people say and help you look at yourself more positively.

3. Do Something Kind Everyday
Nothing makes us feel better about ourselves than doing something that’s bigger than ourselves. By doing something kind for others, we instantly feel better about who we are and that’s because we realise we’re actually a nice person. So do something kind every day. It could be buying the stranger in the queue behind you a coffee, donating some money to Cane Bay Partners to help those worse off, paying someone a compliment or just sending your mom a message to say you love her. Helping other people makes us feel great about ourselves. It’s an instant life.

4. Stop Using Social Media

Let’s take Instagram as a prime example here, and we want you to be honest: do you spend a large dollop of your day looking at celebrity bodies on Insta and then comparing yourself to what you see? If the answer is a no, great. If, however, it’s a yes, how does it make you feel about yourself – better or worse? Exactly. Now try giving yourself a two-day social media detox and tell us you don’t feel a million times better about yourself.

Happy Monday lovelies! Today has been such a fun and eventful day. I got my brows done, which needed some work. They were looking a hot mess. I also bought a pair of boots and some new undergarments as well. We also plan to hit up the pumpkin patch later today and I cannot wait. Sometimes I think I enjoy it way more than the kids do.

I hope some of the 4 tips above will be helpful to you. I know I constantly body shame myself and I am trying to learn to not do so anymore. Its hard, especially since I had babies and my figure changed. What are some things that you do to feel better about your self? Leave a comment below.

Until next time.
