Day 3 of HFMD - Getting Better Slowly

Today has been better. Amari is almost back to his usual happy-go-lucky self. His face is starting to get better, his poor little hands are covered in red painful blisters (ouch!), his little bottom is scabbing and some of the blisters are starting to disappear, and his little piggy's have little red bumps on them now. I can not wait for this Hand-Foot-Mouth-Disease to go away and I pray that he will never get again! It's not fun. Like I mentioned yesterday, I have been running around my house cleaning like a mad woman. I even stocked up on disinfecting wipes and more all-purpose cleaner when I was at Big Lots earlier today in hopes to clean every surface that little man touched.  Poor Amari, I feel like he has been quarantined in our house for the past three days. We did take him for a car ride after dinner so he could get some fresh air and let his mouth-hand-foot blister buddies breathe too.  =] I'm just happy that he has his energy back and that his buddies are starting to go away. He will be staying home for the rest of the week from daycare so he can recover. The unfortunate thing about HFMD is that it last anywhere from 7-10 days and the virus remains in the system for over a month. Looks like we will be investing in a step-stool and special handsoap for Amari and start teaching him to wash his hands like a big boy. Maybe he will even start wanting to brush his teeth at the sink. We did pick him up some Aveeno Soothing Bath Treatment that is supposed to help sooth itchy and irritated skin due to poison ivy/oak/sumac, rashes, insect bites, and eczema. It also helps sooth chicken pox, prickly heat, hives, and sunburn. So far, he is loving the oatmeal baths! Seeing as Aveeno is made out of colloidal oatmeal, he may love it too. We managed to live through 5 days of Hand-Foot-Mouth-Disease in our house and have 2-5 more days to go! =/ Keep our family in your thoughts.
