Mom Confession's: A Year Ago Yesterday was My Due Date

Updated and edited as of 3/4/2017.

This week I have reached deep into my archives, deleting irrelevant posts and editing the ones that had the  potential to be great posts. I stumbled upon this old gem and literally felt so damn old. My son Amari turned seven this year...

When did that happen?

Man, Father Time, slow your roll before I have to "cash you outside, how bout dah!"

You can read Amari's birth story here. I decided to make this part of my Mom Confession's  series.

It is strange to think that yesterday, February 19th was my due date for Amari. Of course, he was stubborn and didn't want to come out on the day he was supposed to but that is to be be expected.

I remember being so frustrated and upset that I wasn't in labor yet. I ate so much pineapple and spicy food to try to kick start labor. I even walked a lot hoping that it would help but sadly it didn't. My doctor kept telling me at my 40 week check up that morning that I could go into labor at any minute but I had a feeling that I wouldn't. I had a super stubborn baby in my womb that wasn't ready to bless us with his presence.

I remember being in the foulest mood ever. My poor husband, having to deal with an emotional hot mess who was a super pregnant and moody woman that would burst into tears for no reason or snap at him because I just felt like it. I don't think I ever apologized for it either...

Sorry Trev!

I just couldn't help it. My emotions got the best of me.

Its also strange to look back at pictures and see how huge my belly was! I'm average height and was a pretty athletic person but I put on a lot of weight with my son. My belly was all baby. My body doesn't handle baby weight well at all.

My doctor was way off when he said that the baby was going to weigh in the low seven's department. My son came out weighting 8 pounds and 13 ounces and he was super long!

Trev and I spend a lot of yesterday reminiscing about last February 19th when I was pregnant. I still can't get over the fact that it has been almost a year since Amari was born. I cannot wait to celebrate his first birthday with him.

The Duster & A Half Naked Baby

These photos were supposed to be my Wordless Wednesday post for this week; however, I couldn't find my ethernet cord to upload the pictures from my camera. I finally found the cord twenty minutes ago and walla!
Stinker was intrigued by the duster and he was helping mama clean up the house. He did a pretty good job. He even let my plant kisses on his cheek and didn't even try to wipe my lipstick off her cheeks.

Happy Belated Valentine's Day

Trev and I are kind of anti-Valentine’s Day and feel that love should be expressed all 365 days of the year, not just on Valentine’s Day, which is why it took me a whole 3 days later to update you on the wild and crazy adventures of the Durant’s 1st Valentine's Day together. We did celebrate Amari’s first Valentine’s Day and we showered him with some new toys and a cute shirt. They make the cutest attire for little kids and our little guy rocked a long sleeved onsie that said, “#1 with the ladies”. Let’s just say that his Valentine’s Day shirt was very fitting for the evening.

We went on a mission to Lacey to go have dinner at Taco del Mar and when we got there the restaurant was closed! Bummed, we had to figure out where we were going to next. I was starving and in the mood for Mexican food and the wait at Olive Garden, Applebee’s, Red Robin, and the Outback would have been ridiculous. Those restaurants were not options! Trev remembered a local restaurant called Paco’s Tacos and so we headed on over there. When we walked inside there was another family with their 9 month old daughter. We sat a few tables away from them and ordered our super huge and rather delicious burritos. The owner’s daughters sat a table away and Amari managed to turn himself around in his highchair and literally started to get his flirt on with her. It was the funniest thing to witness. Stinker isn’t even one yet and he sure knows how to flirt! I can’t even imagine what he’s going to be like when he is a teenager. He is, by far, the biggest baby flirt that I have ever encountered. He kept making this clicky sound (which his uncle Shawn taught him how to do when he was itty-bitty) to get her attention whenever she looked away from him. I could barely get him to eat his dinner. He just wanted to flirt with her! Than he noticed the baby girl and he kept on staring at her too. Towards the end of our meal the owner brought the baby girl over to say hi and A.J. just kept staring at her. He even tried to hold her hand. It was so cute. But than the owner’s daughter came over and he flashed her his super cute baby grin and carried on flirting with her. The owner of Paco’s Tacos thought that it was hilarious and he told Amari that his daughter was too old for him and that he shouldn’t go after the Cougs!  Amari is a little stud muffin and seems to get all the ladies, young and old.

After dinner we ventured on over to Grandpa and Grandma Durant's house. Trev and I chit chatted with his parents about wedding plans and Amari chased his Auntie J around the living room.  All in all, our Valentine's Day was pretty laid back and chill. We spent our time with the people that we love.

Happy Belated Valentine's Day to you!

And the Newest Word is "Dah-gee" aka Doggie

Yup, that's right! Amari just started saying the word "dah-gee" yesterday even though we do not have a dog! The only doggie that he has ever seen is Grandma and Grandpa's little dog Nemo. And to be fair, Nemo is not the biggest fan of Amari. He gets super jealous of him.

Amari spent the day with Grandpa and Auntie J while Trevor and I were at work and that was when he started saying "dah-gee" over-and-over again. Of course, being the stubborn little boy that he is, he waited until we got home to say it for mom and dad. I was reading him "Puppy Love", a book that I bought him for Valentine's Day. He took one look at the cover and looked at me and said, "dah-gee, dah-gee". I couldn't help but smile. There is nothing more fulfilling than hearing your little one learning how to speak.

He now says "ma-mum", "da da", "nigh-nigh", and "dah-gee". Oh yes, and he even quacks like a duck! It is the funniest thing!
